Leland L. Beckstrom, 68, died April 6, 1996.

He was born April 22, 1927, in Panguitch, Utah, to Dilworth and Iola LeFevre Beckstrom. He graduated from Panguitch High School in 1945 and entered the military, serving in Germany.He married Minnie Lou Judd on June 1, 1949, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had three children: Steven L. (Frances) Beckstrom of Kearns, Janet (David Arnold) Beckstrom of Kearns, and Camille (Blake) Jemison of Sandy. He has five grandchildren: Erica, Krista, Amber, Baylee and Kara. Surviving brothers and sisters are Bernard of Kearns, Gordon of San Diego, and Fern Shakespeare of San Diego.

His mother and father preceded him in death as did brothers Clayton and Melvin, and sister Pauline, as well as parents-in-law, Silvia and Reed Judd.

Leland graduated from Utah State University on June 4, 1951, and went to Tooele, Utah, where he taught vocational agriculture and was FFA advisor for 36 years. While teaching, he received many state and national awards. He sent teams to national FFA contests in 29 of his 36 years. During his teaching, he touched numerous lives and influenced many of the youth growing up in Tooele County.

He served as secretary of the Tooele Co. Cattleman Assn. and was instrumental in starting the Tooele Co. Livestock Show. He also served on the Tooele City Council for eight years.

Leland enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseback riding and being with his family, especially his granddaughters. He also served as a high priest in the LDS Church.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 10, at 11 a.m. in the Tooele 4th-14th Ward Chapel, 192 West 2nd South. Friends may call at the Tate Mortuary on Tuesday, April 9, from 6-8 p.m. and at the church one hour prior to services Wednesday. Interment, Tooele City Cemetery.
