Philip Rothrock was born at Manchester Township, York County, Pennsylvania. He was a twin, the brother of Peter Rothrock (1746-1829). Philip and Peter were the fifth and sixth of fourteen known children of Philip Jacob Rothrock (1713-1803) and Katherina Kuntz (1720-1777), who married 22 Mar 1740 in Pennsylvania. After Katherina died, Philip Jacob married Eleanora Macquinet Galatin (1724-???) on 21 Sep 1781 at York, York County, Pennsylvania.

Philip Jr. married Eva Elizabeth Weller (1749-1839) in Oct 1769 at Yorktown, York County, Pennsylvania. The family left York County, Pennsylvania on 03 May 1773 and moved to present day Forsyth County, North Carolina. They had ten known children, nine boys and one girl. All ten lived to maturity. I have birth dates for all ten, and death dates for nine of the ten. The ten children were namely:

1. Jacob Rothrock (1770-1807)
2. Friedrich Rothrock (1772-1852)
3. Eva Rothrock Sides (1774-1835)
4. George Rothrock (1777-1851)
5. Johannes "John" Rothrock (1779-1827)
6. Joseph Rothrock (1782-1870)
7. Philip Rothrock (1785-a1840)
8. Martin Rothrock (1787-1864)
9. Christian Rothrock (1790-1870)
10. Daniel Rothrock (1794-1880)

Philip and Elizabeth raised their large family in the vicinity of the Moravian community of Friedberg, then on the border of Surry and Rowan Counties, North Carolina; later became Stokes and Rowan; even later became Stokes and Davidson; and finally Forsyth and Davidson Counties, North Carolina.

The only one of their ten children that I don't have death date and burial location for is Philip Rothrock Jr. (b. 12 Jan 1785) at Friedberg, current border of Forsyth and Davidson Counties, North Carolina. Philip Jr. married Christena (Teney) Schott (b. 27 Jan 1792) whom Philip married on 20 Sep 1810 at Stokes (present day Forsyth) County, North Carolina. Philip Jr. died at Franklin County, Indiana before 1840 and Teney died at Franklin County, Indiana before 1850.

Links to Philip's parents, wife, nine of his ten known children and four of his thirteen known siblings are included below.
