Valentine Rothrock was the ninth of fourteen known children of Phillip Jacob Rothrock (1713-1803) and his first wife, Catharina Kuntz (1719-1777), who married 22 Mar 1740 in Pennsylvania. Phillip later married to the widow Eleanora Macquinet Galatin (1724-???) on 21 Sep 1781 at York, York County, Pennsylvania but had no additional children.
Valentine married Eva Elizabeth (went by Elizabeth) Volz (became Foltz) (1757-1823) on 11 Apr 1781 at Friedberg, Stokes (later Forsyth) County, North Carolina. Valentine and Elizabeth were the parents of four known children, namely:
1. Johannes Rothrock (1783-1792)
2. Philip Rothrock (1785-1825)
3. Elizabeth Rothrock Shott (1788-1826)
4. Anna Maria Rothrock (1794-???)
