Alvin Tull
Alvin Tull, 86, of Creston, formerly of Tingley, died July 8, 2001, at Crest Haven Care Center in Creston. Services will be 10:30 am Wednesday, July 11 at Wilson-Watson and Armstrong-Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., Mount Ayr. The Rev. Eydie Stephens will officiate. Buial will be in the Tingley Cemetery. There is open visitation with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 pm today at the funeral home in Mount Ayr. Memorials may be directed to the Tingley Community Building. Mr. Tull, son of Minnie Pearl (Smith) and Ruben Turner Tull, was born Oct. 3, 1914, at Hatfield, MO. On June 8, 1935, he married Irene Baker. He was a farmer and owned and operated the Mount Ayr Livestock Auction in the late 1950s. He lived in Shannon City, Tingley and Mount Ayr before moving to Creston four years ago. He was a former mayor on Tingley. Survivors include a daughter, Janet (husband Jim) Sissell of Creston; four sons, Howard (wife Jenesse) Tull of Tingley, Ronald (wife Jeanie) Tull of Annandale, Va., Von (wife Judy) Tull of Afton and Glen Tull of Creston; ex-wife: Irene Tull of Creston: eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Oral, Roy, Ray, Willie, Les and Archie; three sisters, Pearl McChesney, Lucy Allen and one in infancy; and a granddaughter.
