HOPKINS COUNTY, KY - James Garnett Adkins, 84, of Nebo, KY, passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville, KY.

He was born April 10, 1928 Hopkins County to the late Clarence E. Adkins and Cora Utley Adkins. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne Green Adkins; two sisters, Rosie Walker and Annie Adkins; and one brother, Austin Adkins.

Mr. Adkins was a member of Silent Run Baptist Church. He worked at Speed Queen Factory, and also at Kroger.

He is survived by his four daughters, Brenda (Jim) Mills, Sherry (Jerry) Bourland, Doris Williams, and Carolyn Adkins; and one son, James E. Adkins, all of Madisonville; two sisters, Laura (Junior) Howton of Nebo and Francis (Thomas) Taylor of Princeton, KY; seven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday September 28, 2012 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home in Madisonville with Rev. Wayne Lamb and Bro. Ricky Lutz officiating. Burial will follow in Silent Run Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 27 and from noon until service time on Friday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home.
