Angelo E. "Putter" Paterno, formerly of 92 Oak Street, and husband of the late Theresa (Falcone) Paterno, died October 23, 2008, in Hopkinton.

Born in Westerly, he was a son of the late Angelo E. and Josephine (Gingerella) Paterno.

Mr. Paterno had been employed as foreman at Warner Bros until retiring. He was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church, and a life member of both the Calabrese Society and the Bocce Club. He enjoyed gardening and in his younger days loved to play bocce.

Survivors include his son, Robert L. Paterno and his wife Natalie of Hopkinton; his daughter, Joyce P. Jones and her husband Thomas of Westerly; two sisters, Rose Browning of North Kingstown and Lucy Southwick of Wakefield; six grandchildren, Jean Murray, Diana Ansay, Laura Salisbury, Robert L. Paterno Jr. and Morgan and Taylor Jones; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, Angelo E. Paterno III; and by a daughter, Jean Marie Paterno.

There are no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church, 111 High Street, Westerly. Burial will be in St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly. Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, Westerly, is in charge of the arrangements.
