Mrs. Virginia Joyce Lowman, age 88, of Soperton passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2017. She was born on November 26, 1928 in Mount Vernon, GA to Henry Augustus and Sophia Palmer Joyce.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold P. Lowman; brothers, Eugene Joyce, Raymond Joyce, Walter Joyce, Laurence Joyce, and Herman Joyce; and sisters, Evelyn Wooten, Emma Pollette, Dora Joyce, Norma Hamilton, and Vivian Brantley.

She retired at age 83 from Treutlen Health and Rehab after forty-two years of service and was a member of Soperton United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her children, Joy (Kenneth) Jenkins of Appling, Cecelia Blume of Waynesboro, Ellen Arrington of Soperton, and Henry (Beth) Lowman of Rentz; grandchildren, Angela (Will) Simons, Chris Black, all of Soperton, Benjamin Blume of Waynesboro, Lisa (Denny) Crosby of Marietta, Gage Lowman of Savannah, and Lexi Lowman of Rentz; great-grandchildren, Brianna Markwell, Jacob King, both of Soperton, Dustin Palmer of Hawaii, Shane Black of Benton, LA, Bryant Blume of Clarksville, TN, Dalton Crosby, Seneca Crosby and Haddon Crosby, all of Marietta; great-grandchildren, Zander Black and Makenzie Black of Benton, LA; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home at 2pm Monday, March 20, with Reverend George Grimes officiating. The interment followed in the Westview Cemetery in Soperton.

Sammons Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
