Marvin was baptized on July 13, 1930 by Rev. L. C. Gilker at Immanuel Lutheran Church, near Daykin, NE. and was confirmed on June 27, 1943 by Rev. O.R. Heintz. He attended District 72 and worked with his parents on the farm. He was united in marriage to the Delores Kleine, on September 17, 1950 at St. John's Lutheran Church by Rev. Herman C. Damm. The couple resided on the family farm with his parents until his parents moved to a farm near Jansen, NE. Marvin's passion and love of the land and livestock nurtured the growth of the family farm from a Grade B dairy herd into a Grade A dairy operation. He and his family worked together farming, irrigating, and raising cattle, hogs and chickens. The growth of the farm was shared by his wife of 62 years and four children. In 2002 Marvin and his family received the Nebraska Pioneer Farm Award recognizing family ownership for 100 years. Marvin was a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he served on the stewardship committee and as two terms as trustee.
Marvin was preceded in death by: brothers, Harry, Wayne, Edgar and Loren Kugel; sisters, Lenora Bundy, Margaret Kugel and Lavern Cook; Brothers-in-law, Max Bundy, Harold Staley, Marion Stone, Bob Cook and Melvin Kleine; Sisters-in-law Laura Kleine, Mildred Kugel, Norma Stone, Doris Kugel and Nadine Kugel and son-in-law Ronald Moenning.
Marvin is survived by: wife, Delores Kugel; children, Margaret and husband, Fred Hoult, of Howells, NE., Dale Kugel and wife, Brenda of Beatrice, NE., Pamela Kugel-Rolls and Tony Rolls of Fort Myers, FL., Marie and her husband Leon Zimmermann of Beatrice, NE.; Grandchildren, James and Megan Moenning, Gloria and Dan Krueger, Darren and Ashley Kugel, Damen Kugel with LaRaesha Munoz, Megan and Willy Crouse, Rebecca and Kevin Weaver, Joshua Kugel-Rolls, Anthony Zimmerman with Lindsey Meyer, Andrew and Aaron Zimmerman; Great grandchild, Jordyn Crouse; step grandchildren, Nicole Zimmerman, Tammy and Jess Martin, Christine and Darren Gardener, Dylan Weaver, Jerick Zabatrisky and Haley Gardener; Sisters-in-law, Martha Sasse and Darlene and Al Kohel; brothers-in-law, Alfred and Lawrence Kleine and a host of relatives and friends.
Interment was in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Daykin, NE.
