Suggested edit: William M Carle married Emarilles "Emma" ( Throckmorton) Carle in the spring of 1862 and enlisted in the Iowa Fortieth Infantry, October of 1862. He knew that Emma was with child and she wrote him to tell him when their daughter Maryetta was born. Will sent her a letter that was preserved by family, telling of his happiness at having a child, but unfortunately he died before he could ever see his daughter. The grandmother of Maryetta; Marguerite (Throckmorton) Carle and grandfather Eber Carle helped raise her along with mother Emma Carle.
