Captain Charles Davis, 79 years of age and a prominent citizen, died last night at the home of his niece, Mrs. E.B. Mosley in Poquoson last night at 6:30 o'clock.
Captain Davis has been in ill health for over five years, but previous to that time he was very active in farming and oystering in the Poquoson section.
Funeral services will be held from the residence this afternoon at 3:00 o'clock and will be in charge of Rev. Harris, of the Big Bethel Baptist church. Burial will be made in Smith's cemetery.
Captain Davis belonged to the Red Cloud Lodge of Redmen, in York county, which order will attend the funeral in a body. He is survived by one nephew and four nieces.
