George Zupan


George Zupan of Pine River, a former resident of St. Cloud, died Monday morning in Pine River. He was 49 years old, a stone cutter by trade while he lived in St. Cloud. For the past 10 years he has been operating a farm near Pine River.

Mrs. Zupan, who was Elizabeth Huschle of Eden Valley, survives with eight children-Walter, Martin, Gilbert, Albert, Irene, Dorothy, Eleanore and Mary. He leaves two brothers Lawrence Zupan of Pine River and Frank of St. Cloud; and two sisters, Mrs. Robert Sands of St. Cloud and Mrs. Peter Kassow of Deer River.

The funeral will be held Thursday morning in Pine River.

Funeral Services Held on Thursday For George Zupan

Pine River-George Zupon of Pine river died at the sanitorium at Ah Gwah Ching** and funeral services were conducted from Our Lady of Lourdes church in Pine River Thursaday at 10 a.m.

Mr. Zupon was 47 years of age at the time of his death. He leaves to mourn his wife, eight children, two brothers and two sisters.

**The Minnesota Sanatorium for Consumptives was more popularly known by the name of its post office, "Ah-Gwah-Ching", and was located near Walker, Minnesota. In 1957 the name was changed to the "Minnesota State Sanatorium". The facility was in operation from 1907-1963. In 1961 the Hennepin County sanatorium at Glen Lake became the official state facility for tubercular patients and the facility at Walker became the Ah-Gwah-Ching Nursing home, a state institution for geriatric patients.
