John L. Day, 68 years old, of Maryville, Mich., died in Phoenix, Ariz.
Mr. and Mrs. Day had been visiting their children in Phoenix and Tucson since January. He was born Jan. 21, 1896, in Swinton, Mo., and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Day. He was married to Miss Ella McMillon of Swinton on Oct. 2, 1917.
During World War I, Mr. Day served with the U.S. Army in Europe and fought in five major campaigns. Following his Army service, he served as a rural mail carrier in Dexter for 14 years. He then moved to Detroit, Mich., and was employed as a tool and die maker in the Kelsey-Hays Wheel Co. He retired in 1961.
He is survived by his wife; one son, John L. Day; one daughter, Mrs. Wayne Tucker; one brother Lon Day; one sister, Mrs. Edith Masterson; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at the Bisplinghoff Funeral Home in Chaffee. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
