A native of San Gabriel, she was born Feb. 5, 1895, the daughter of W. J. Bales and his wife Maggie, nee Engle. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Robert E. (June) Lee of New Braunfels, four brothers, Howard and Roscoe Bales of Houston, John R. Bales of California, and Jim Bales of Buckholt; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral service was conducted June 28 at the Church of Christ by Mr. Bill Hearn, and interment was in Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Ronnie Parenty, Arlon Braune, Whitey Eldridge, Bill Mabry, Kendell Henderson, and Roblee Perrault.
