Services held for Emma Blockhus

Services for Emma Blockus, 92, were held Friday, Dec 24, at 2pm in Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev Paul Wigtil officiating. Interment was in the West Union Cemetery. Burnham-Wood Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Her death occurred Tuesday, Dec 21, 1993 in the Good Samaritan Home after a short illness.
Emma Lena Emily (Weitenhagen) Blockhus, daughter of Carl and Fredricka (Scheel) Weitenhagen was born September 9, 1901 in Chickasaw County, near Fredericksburg. She was baptized October 13, 1901 at St Paul's in Fredericksburg and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church Hawkeye. She Attended school in rural Fayette County.
On January 27, 1921 she was united in marriage with Elmer O Blockhus at the Brick Church near West Union. To this union were born two children.
Emma was a former member of St Olaf church, West Union, until its closing. She was a former member of the Ladies Aid Society and Martha Circle. She became a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in March 1993.
Emma was preceeded in death by her husband, Elmer in 1975; her son Arthur in 1965, six brothers and one sister.
She is survived by her daughter, Helen Lawrence, West Union; three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren
