Born November 21, 1921 in Granville Township, Mifflin County, she was a daughter of the late Cloyd G. and Laura M. Kauffman Bowen.
Her husband, John W. McAlister, survives. Also surviving are: children, Richard B. McAlister and Mrs. Richard H. [Joyce M.] Eaton, both of Port Royal RR2; a brother, William D. Bowen, Lewistown; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, William McAlister, three brothers, Robert Bowen, James Bowen and Omar Bowen and a grandson, Richard J. McAlister.
In her early life, she was a nurse's aide at Lewistown Hospital. Later she was a cafeteria worker for Mifflin County School District.
She was Methodist by faith.
Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 21, at Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal, with Rev. Gerald D. Wagner and Pastor Brand W. Eaton officiating. Interment was in New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal. Family received friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.
