Victoria Davis Reed, a daughter of John D. Davis and Louraine Webb Davis, was born a natural birth, July 20, 1876 and in the year 1889 was born of the Spirit of God and joined the United Baptist Church at Fish Trap Saturday, June 3, 1889, and was buried with Christ in Baptism by Powell Ferguson. She was married to John Reed in 1892 and was blessed with four children: Chloe May Picklesimer, Franklin Furnace, Ohio; Lora Pelphrey, Paintsville, Ky.; Norzie Ellen Trimble, Barnetts Creek, Ky.; Walter Davis Reed, Dayton, Ohio. One brother, Vint Davis, Oil Springs, Ky. survives. Her passing also leaves a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, and a great number of friends and loved ones. She departed this life Dec.16, 1962, and strived 73 years to enterin at the straight
gate. "Brethren, I believe with all my heart that all who have kept the faith have fought a good fight, and I realize I have fought a good fight. A banner of love is over me and when the battle is over, I will wear a crown of Glory and a robe of righteousness, and goldenslippers on my feet and walk the gold paved streets of New Jerusalem. Blessed be the name of the Lord. Please don't shed any tears over me, but meet me, O meet me, O meet me over there."Written three years ago by Victoria Reed.
