Jacob-3 Aldrich was the son of Peter-2, (George-1) Aldrich and Mehitable-3 (John-2, John-1) Swezey. He was survived by a widow named Bethiah, who may have been the mother of all of his children. (Some compilations give her a last name of Evans - but this writer has not been able to substantiate that name for her.) They had seven children who survived into adulthood (2 died young nameless): Gershom, Peter, Mehitable, Jacob, Daniel, Stephen and Jemima.

Additionally, he may have had another daughter, named Mary, who may have been the wife of Mathias-4 (Mathias-3, John-2, Mathias-1) Corwin. Jacob Aldrich's widow. Bethia, refers to a granddaughter named Mary Corwin in her will. Mathias Corwin had a wife named Mary, maiden name otherwise not identified, and children named Jacob and Gershom - names of who would be uncles, if Mathias Corwin were married to a daughter of Jacob Aldrich. Also, Mathias Corwin had a daughter named Mary, who married Joshua Corwin. Also, Mathias Corwin married, as his second wife, a former sister-in-law of Jemima Aldrich through her brother, Nathan Benjamin, one of the Jacob Aldrich daughters, which demonstrates the families at least knew one another. Or, the wife of Mathias Corwin who would have been the mother of the granddaughter Mary, may have been an earlier, unrecorded marriage for one of the other Aldrich daughters.

His will provides:

Page 109.--In the name of God, Amen. I, JACOB AULDRIDGE, of Southold, in Suffolk County, yeoman, being sick. I leave to my wife Bethiah, the use and improvement of all my estate, during her widowhood. And she has full power to dispose of all movable estate among my children, as she shall see fit, but if she marries she shall have 1/3 of the movables. I leave to my sons, Peter, Gershom, Jacob, Daniel, and Stephen, all my houses and lands and buildings, and they are to allow my wife the use of them as above. I make my wife Rebecca [sic?], and my son Gershom, executors. Dated October 21, 1746. Witnesses, Timothy Allen, David Gardiner, Daniel Wells. Proved, November 10, 1749. (Abstracts of Wills Vol IV 1744-1753, pg 119)
