Evelyn Horton, 91, passed away Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012. Service: 3 p.m. Tuesday in Laurel Land Chapel of Chimes. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park. Memorials: charity of choice.

Evelyn was born in Hess, Okla. She married her best friend, Earl Horton, on Sept. 11, 1946. They had a phenomenal love and together they had four children. Evelyn dedicated her life to her family and made sure that her kids were taken care of. In her later years, she was a caregiver to many of her friends. She was also very passionate about her faith and had a great love for her Lord and was a longtime member of Travis Avenue Baptist Church. "Ma" was the matriarch of the family and will be greatly missed. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Earl.

Survivors: Children, Rodney Horton and wife, Jacque, Julie Smith and husband, Gary, Tom Horton, and Trina Jones; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family members.
