LUBBOCK - Adrion James "A.J." Phillips, 92, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2007, at Bender Terrace in Lubbock. Cremation arrangements are by Freeman-Abell Funeral Home of Hale Center. Mr. Phillips was born Oct. 30, 1914, in Hess, Okla. He served in the U.S. Army Infantry. In 1944, he received a bronze star for valor. He farmed in Hale Center where he was a longtime resident. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Hale Center. He later lived at Christian Manor in Plainview for 12 years before moving to Bender Terrace in Lubbock.

Survivors include one sister, Evelyn Phillips Horton of Fort Worth; and his caretakers including Bertha Owens of Plainview and Carl and Karen Pelphrey of Lubbock. Eight brothers and two sisters are deceased.
