William Alexander Polson, well known resident of Macon, passed away Wednesday morning at his home on Union and Missouri streets after a lingering illness.
Mr. Polson was born August 27, 1857, near Jacksonville, in Randolph County, Mo., and departed this life Wednesday morning October 5, 1927 having attained the age of 70 years, 1 months, and 6 days.
Mr. Polson was united in marriage with Miss Mary Martha Cox, on October 15, 1885. To this union were born seven children, two having died in infancy. Those living are: Ida Belle Polite and Frankie Jane Sutton, both of Macon; Tessie Iva Vanskike of Moberly; Hughie E. Polson of St. Louis, Mo., and Lloyd Allen Polson at home.
Mr. Polson lived on a farm until about ten years ago, when he moved his family to Macon, where he successfully operated a neighborhood grocery on Missouri avenue, until a few weeks before his death.
He became a charter member of the Fairview Christian church at Macon, where he held membership at the time of his death. He was a good christian man and attended the church when his health would permit. He was a good citizen and neighbor and a very devoted husband and father. He will be much missed by his loved ones and friends.
Mr. Polson is survived by his wife, five children, and two sisters, Sarah Cook of Ohio and Rosie Currie of Moberly. There are also 12 grandchildren and one great grand child.
Funeral services were conducted at the Fairview Christian church, this morning at 11 o'clock by Rev. O.L. Angel. Interment in the Fairview Cemetery.
