Lila Jean Baker (Veness), born May 19, 1942, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005, at age 63 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

She was born in Radisson to Lee and Eileen Veness, the oldest of eight children. She married John Sherman Baker on July 3, 1959.

She lived most of her life in the Exeland area where she and John farmed and raised six kids. She worked at the Exeland school as a cook where many of the kids in town loved her.

Lila and John moved to Waukesha in 1988 where she worked as a cook at Carroll College and as a prep cook at The CafŽ. When she wasn't working at The CafŽ, she was babysitting, which she really loved to do.

Lila and John moved back to Exeland in 2001 where they retired and could be close to their kids and family. They attended The River of Life Church in Bruce.

She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Angel Marie Baker; her father, Lee Veness; and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Elvin and Nellie Baker.

She is survived by her husband, John Baker Sr., and four sons and two daughters, Rocke (Kathy) of Exeland, Dixie (Jerry) Dillivan of Exeland, Randy (Carol) of Apache Junction, Ariz., John Jr. (Kellie) of Bruce, Duane (Sam) of Waukesha and Victoria (Steve) Paddock of Bruce. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her mother, Eileen Veness, and five brothers and two sisters, Richard (Cindy) of Exeland, Bob (Diane) of Ladysmith, Kay Robarge of Waukesha, Judy (Dick) Schott of Bruce, Mike (Donna) of Exeland, Dave (Julie) of Exeland and Bill (Laurie) of Fond du Lac.

She is loved and missed by all!
