RUTLEDGE FUNERAL TO BE SUNDAY
Funeral services for Mrs. M. C. Rutledge, who died in Elk City Wednesday morning, February 5, will be held in the Baptist church of Cheyenne Sunday afternoon with Rev. Carl Mabra of Strong City and Rev. Lummus of Cheyenne officiating.
Mrs. Rutledge, formerly Mrs. Porter, is a sister of Mrs. Lee Martin of Cheyenne.

Again the hearts of Roger Mills County have been saddened by the passing of one of those splendid women whose lives have been important factors in the establishment of a Christian standard in what was once an undeveloped region.
Margaret Catherine Green was born in Rome, Georgia in 1869. She was married 21 years later to John Franklin Porter of Parker County, Texas. To this union eight children were born, all of whom survive. In later years Mrs. Porter married James Rutledge who passed away two years ago.
The children are: Sarah Alcorn, Pixley, California; Vera Owens, Hobbs, New Mexico; Estella Payne, Burbank, California; Lee Musick, Elk City, Oklahoma; Albert Porter, Cold Springs, Oklahoma; Rupert Porter, Pixley, California; Alva Porter, Strong City, Oklahoma; Georgie Porter, Pixley, California. She also leaves five sisters, twenty - four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, and a large circle of friends to mourn her going. Mrs. Rutledge was a member of the Christian Church, but attended all churches. She was seventy-two years, eleven months, and five days old at the time of her death.
She was laid to rest in the Silent Home cemetery by the side of her father and mother, following funeral services in Strong City conducted by Rev. Carl Mabra, of Strong City and B. N. Lummus and E. C. Taylor, both of Cheyenne. Tunnard's Funeral Home had charge of the burial.
Each member of the family joins in expressing thanks to those who assisted them in their time of trouble, especially to the pastors who spoke the words of comfort and to the members of the choir.
