Son of Kay Holt and Katie Faye Hoover. He married Nanneta Holland, and later, married Bertha Summit Myers in 1937 in Mangum, Greer County, OK.

A.F. Holt, son of Kay Holt, of near Crawford, was found dead in a box car in Clinton Tuesday morning at about ten o'clock. Evidence at the coroner's inquest indicated suicide, although officers of both Clinton and Roger Mills County are investigating a theory that the death may have resulted from murder.
Holt was a man 33 years of age and had been a resident of the Crawford vicinity practically all of his life. About two weeks ago he was married to Bertha Myers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Summitt, of Pampa, Texas. Mrs. Myers was in Pampa where she was employed at the time of his death.
Holt was shot through the forehead and the wound was perfectly straight, which some think indicates that he was shot from some distance. He had been dead about five hours when found. The pistol, which was his, was fully loaded except for the one exploded cartridge. The gun was so balanced on the body of the dead man that any move would have unbalanced it which was one of the theories advanced for murder. The man's shoes and clothing were dry when found, and as there was rain the previous night, officers said that this indicated he had spent the night in the car.
Holt had sold his car for $25.00 and had received $10.00 on the trade and was to receive the balance when he delivered the title to the car, papers found on the body indicated.
According to relatives the deceased had left Pampa to return to Roger Mills county to get release from a rental agreement on a farm after which he was to return to Pampa, Texas.
Funeral services were held on Thursday at the Silent Home chapel near Roll, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma where interment was made in that cemetery.
