Vaughn Ronald Durbin was born September 8, 1929 to Roscoe Cecil and Hazel Blanche (DeHart) Durbin in Dundy county Nebraska. His mother, Hazel, died in 1931 and the kids were all farmed out. Eventually Vaughn Ronald was adopted by an Applegate family and took the name of R. Dean Applegate. The Applegates names were Walter A. and Iolet L. Wright-Applegate. He was married to Beverly Jo Barker in January of 1947. He lived at Hutchinson, Kansas. He was a Dr of some kind but have no idea what kind of a Dr he was. They had four children, Jodi Lynn who was born in 1955, and the others were Kathy, Deena and Jimmy.
He had 2 brothers, Roy James and Donald Dean and a sister, Rosella Virginia Durbin.
Roy James lived with and aunt and uncle, Art and Lela (DeHart) Little, Donald lived with his uncle Dave Durbin and wife in Missouri. Virginia lived with a family by the name of Johnson at Litchfield, Ne.
Dean Applegate died Oct. 7, 1963. Services were held at D.W. Newcomer's Sons, Overland Park, Kansas Chapel.
He was buried Oct. 10, 1963 in Fairlawn Cemetery in Hutchinson, Kansas. Just found out that his wife, Beverly Jo died in Orange County, California Oct., 1, 1973 and looks like the daughter, Jodi Lynn MacMahan died in 1999.
Dean died of a heart attack at home.
