Donald was born to Roscoe Cecil and Hazel Blanche (DeHart) Durbin. His mother died in 1931 and all the children were farmed out to other families. Donald went to live with Dave Durbin and his wife at Richmond, Missouri. Donald was married to Dorothy Anderson. They divorced later and he married another gal.
Donald and Dorothy had three children, John Paul, Edward and Sharon.
Donald had the nickname of "Dewdrop." Just learned this from an article of his death in the Richmond Daily News, Richmond, Mo.
Donald served in WWII in the European Theatre. He was a farmer near Camden, Missouri before he was drafted.
Donald had two brothers and one sister. Roy James Durbin, Vaughn Ronald Durbin (adopted out to a family with the name of Applegate so he became Dean Applegate) and a sister, Rosella Virginia Durbin. His brother, Vaughn Ronald, known as Dean Applegate died in 1969 at Overland Park, Mo., his brother, Roy James died in Sept. of 2009 at Benkelman, Ne., and his sister, Virginia died May 11, 2012 at Grand Island Medical Center, Grand Island, Ne.
Donald died June 11, 2011. He died in Warrensburg, Mo., at the home of his son, John. He is buried in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, Missouri.
