"Fred Carl Rensing, 55, of 1421 North Church Street, father of the Rev. William F. Rensing, assistant pastor of St. Peter's Cathedral, suffered a fatal heart attack at his home at 6:30 o'clock Saturday night. He was rushed to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in the Renner ambulance and pronounced dead upon arrival.

"Mr. Rensing had been in failing health for some years prior to being stricken. He was the retired business manager for Local 21 of the Brewery Workers Union and prior to being elected manager of the local he was employed at Star-Peerless Brewery.

"The funeral will be held at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday from Renner Funeral Home to St. Teresa's Church for services at 10 a.m. His son will officiate at a solemn requiem high mass. The deacon of the mass will be the Rev. Gregory Holtgrave, administrator of the Cathedral, and the sub-deacon will be the Rev. Clement Dirier of Grand Chain. The sermon will be preached by; Msgr. Jospeh B. Stenger, J.C.D., pastor of St. Teresa's.

"Mr. Rensing was born in Belleville November 15, 1902 and was a son of the late John and Mary Rensing, Sr. nee Stauder, his father a native of Damiansville was superintendent of Walnut Hill Cemetery for many years. His mother was born in Belleville.

"On October 16, 1928 he married the former Laura Hoff a sister of the late Msgr. William Hoff, pastor of St. Teresa's Church. Besides his wife and his son he leaves another son Air Force Lieutenant Fred J. Rensing, Fort Worth, Texas; a daughter Catherine, wife of Dr. Donald Jameson of Flagstaff, Arizona, three grandchildren; Fred Rensing III and Jean Marie and Gregory Jameson; a brother Oscar Rensing, 422 Park Ave., and three sisters; Johanna wife of William Buchholz of St. Louis and Ida wife of Michael Walter, Miss Frances Rensing, both of 806 E. McKinley Street. A twin brother William another brother John H. Jr. and three sisters; Marie, Rose and Mrs. Clara Buchholz preceded him in death.

"He was a member of Belleville Council 1028 Knights of Columbus, the Holy Name Society of St. Teresa's Church and the Western Catholic Union."
