She was married to Fred N. Bates on February 28, 1906 at Hazleton, Iowa. In March of 1912 the family moved to Lamont. Prior to her illness, she was an active member of the Methodist Church and took a lively interest in Community and Church activities.
Her survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Harold Myrton of Mason City; a sister, Mrs. Clyde Richards of Alhambra, California and three brothers, Fred Bigelow of Arlington, Roy of Fayette and Bud of Oelwein.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred N. Bates in November of 1950, and by her parents Mr. And Mrs. Burt Bigelow whose home was at Arlington.
Burial was in Campton Cemetery.
