Vurnie Burden, 81, of Bowling Green, died at 7:50 p.m. July 2, 2011, at the Hospice Center. The Butler County native was born April 6, 1930, in Leonard Oak. He was retired from Eaton Corp. in Louisville, where he was a line foreman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and volunteered at Helping Hands of Bowling Green. He was a son of the late Walter Burden and Leora Cardwell Burden and the husband of the late Ruth Lindsey Burden. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dora Mae Brooks and Windlene Barks; and six brothers, Edward, Edgar, Silas, James, Dallas and Paul Burden.
