Howard Vaughn Luckett passed away after a long illness on August 27th, 2012.He was a gentle man. Vaughn passed away after a long illness on August 27th, 2012. Vaughn was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran who proudly served during the heaviest battles fought against the Japanese on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Lexington. Many of Vaughn's Navy friends died as the ship bombed by Japanese Kamikaze Pilots. He survived this to drive a church bus taking literally thousands of Los Angeles area children to Sunday School to learn about Jesus. Vaughn was 86 years old, and is survived by his bride of more than 60 years, Laura Marie Cottle Luckett.
