John Lossiah, 71, a member of the Cherokee Tribe and resident of Pueblo Pintado for 43 years, passed from this life Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012 in Pueblo Pintado. He was born on June 14, 1941 in North Carolina.
John was married to Nora Tso, daughter to the late Miles and Eleanor Tso, of Torreon. Nora's grandmother was the lady who laughs a lot and the late Paul Delgarito Tsosie-Curlyhair
John Lossiah is survived by his wife, Nora Lossiah; four sons, Kimmy, Jason, Lance and John Lossiah; and three paternal grandsons, Kimmy, Jr., McKenny Ray and Teagan Ray Lossiah.
John was preceded in death by his son Kevin Miles Lossiah; his daughter, Jeannie Lossiah; one sister, Susan Lossiah; three brothers, Sam, Billy Candy and Leander; and his parents, Davie and Lydia Willnody Lossiah.
John was a very verbal person, he enjoyed being with family, friends, and most of all he loved his grandsons. He loved animals and telling stories of how he grew up. He made people happy and made them laugh.
There will be a wake 7 p.m. on Monday at the family residence, 203 CR 7900, in Pueblo Pintado.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, at the family residence.
Interment will follow at the family plot in Pueblo Pintado.
John is in the care of Desert View Funeral Home, North U.S. Highway 491 of Shiprock, N.M. 505-368-4607.
