Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie Richard Thierry, 73, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Opelousas with burial in Bellevue Memorial Cemetery.
The Rev. Malcolm O'Leary will conduct the services.
Mrs. Thierry died at 10:32 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at her residence.
Mrs. Bessie Richard Thierry will surely be missed by family and friends.
Survivors include: four sons, Gerald Thierry of Baytown, Texas, Wilford Lazard Sr., Elliott Martin Lazard and John Gary Richard, all of Opelousas; three daughters, Debra Thierry Criss of Dallas, Texas, Sandra Lazard Jacko of Opelousas and Veronica Lazard Bartie of Lake Charles; four brothers, Joseph Richard of Sulphur, John Calbert Richard of Beaumont, Texas, Alton Richard of Westlake and Wilbert Richard of Lake Charles; two sisters, Agnes R. Simon of San Francisco, Calif., and Drusella R. Simien of Westlake; 19 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Thierry was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Evellia Darjean Richard; seven brothers, Robert, Carlton, Lawrence Jr., Alvin, George, Frank and Eugene Richard; two sisters, Josephine Richard and Christine Richard Nelson; and Herbert Thierry and Ezeb Lazard.
Visiting hours will be observed from 7 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Saturday in Williams Funeral Home in Opelousas, which is in charge of arrangements. A rosary will be recited at 10 a.m.
