EWALT, ALBERT—Albert Ewalt, son of Peter and Martha Ewalt, was born in La Porte County, Indiana, February 16, 1863, the eldest of nine children. He departed this life August 16, 1957, at Sunset Home near Geneva, Neb., at the age of 94 years 6 months.

He first came to Fillmore county in 1882 and settled here in December, 1884. July 10, 1888, he was married to Ellen Nora Huston, daughter of Thomas A. Huston. To this marriage were born two children, a daughter, Susan Elizabeth, and son, Thomas Huston.

Mr. Ewalt was preceded in death by his wife April 17, 1933, and his daughter Susan Tucker, July 24, 1943. He is survived by his son Thomas, two grandchildren, Robert Ewalt and Kathryn Sue Miller; four great-grandchildren; his youngest sister, Mrs. Lena Wing, besides many other nieces, nephews, and relatives of La Porte, Ind.

Shortly after his marriage he went to Richmond, Ind., where he served an apprenticeship in Richmond Machine Shops. From there he went to Sioux City, Ia., where he was chief engineer of the Sioux City Cable Street Car company for nearly five years. The family then moved to a farm west of Geneva. A few years later they moved to Geneva, where Mr. Ewalt engaged in plumbing and well drilling. He was well known throughout the county. In this field he was active until he was 82 years of age. He was a member of the Geneva Methodist church for 60 years and a member of the Modern Woodman lodge more than 60 years.

Many years of his life were spent in the homes of his children. After the death of his wife, he lived in the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Neal Tucker. His later years were spent with his son and daughter-in-law, Helen.

He was a kind father, grandfather and friend and his genial personality will always be remembered.

Funeral services were held at the Kritner-Farmer funeral home in Geneva at 2 p. m. Monday, August 19. Rev. Alden B. Sears officiated. Pallbearers were James Barbur, Karl Brinkman, John Burt, Dorsey Dudley, L. O. Swails and Gerald Walton. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
