Also living in the household were Richard's siblings: Granville L. Holder, age 4; Earl Roy Holder, age 2 years 9 months; and Gearl Ray Holder, age 2 years 9 months; all born in Oklahoma.

The 1940 Federal Census for Eason, Oklahoma (Pottawatomie County) shows Richard Lee Holder, age 17, born in Oklahoma; living with his father, Walter F. Holder, an oilfield driller, age 34, born in Oklahoma; and his mother, Carrie E., age 36, born in Texas.
