Jacob Sedlak was born August 18, 1867 at Rapotecich, Czechoslovakia. here he grew to manhood and on Feb. 7, 1904 was united in marriage to Anna Holcapek at Zbejsov. In 1907 they came to America, arriving in the U.S. on June 27, 1907. For one year they resided in Loma then moved to Dwight. Mr. Sedlak worked as a laborer until age forced him to retire. "Grandpa" Sedlak, as he was known, was a quiet, kindly man who was always ready to help in any way he could. He was especially fond of his grandchildren.

During his last years he derived much enjoyment from working in his garden and splitting wood. He was a devout member of the Catholic church. Mrs. Sedlak preceded her husband in death, December 26, 1931.

Mr. Sedlak is survived by two sons, Louis of Bee and Joseph of Dwight, and by four grandchildren, Louis and Mary Sedlak of Bee, and Richard and Shirley of Dwight. A daughter died in infancy.

We wish to express our deep appreciation and heartfelt thanks to all for your kindness and help given at the time of illness, death and burial of our beloved father; especially Rev. Father Bauer, the Choir and those who gave spiritual offerings.
