Services for McMinnville native Bonnie J. Astleford of Hillsboro will be held at 11 o'clock this morning in the West Chehalem Friends Church near Newberg. The Rev. Paul Almquist will officiate.

Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Astleford died Oct. 10, 2004, in Hillsboro. She was 85.

Born Sept. 21, 1919, in McMinnville, she was the daughter of Isaac and Dessie Doney Newton. She grew up and went to school in McMinnville.

She and Paul Astleford were married June 19, 1938, in Newberg. They lived west of Newberg, then lived in Condon and Cloverdale before moving to Tillamook in 1948. After retiring, they moved to Oceanside in 1964.

They relocated to Forest Grove in 1999, living with their son and daughter-in-law. For the past 11 months, she had lived in Tender Touch Adult Foster Care Home in Hillsboro.

Mrs. Astleford was a homemaker. While in Oceanside, she was active in Netarts Friends Church, of which she was a charter member. She also was a member of the Women's Missionary Society.

She enjoyed crocheting, working jigsaw puzzles and gardening. She grew flowers and vegetables.

Survivors include her husband, of Hillsboro; three sons, Marvin G. Astleford of Hillsboro, Ronald A. Astleford of Tillamook and Richard P. Astleford of Oceanside; a daughter, Marie J. Stock of Burney, Calif.; three brothers, Gene Newton of Canby, Myron Newton of Lewiston, Idaho, and Zane Newton of Wenatchee, Wash.; two sisters, Violet Baker of Quincy, Wash., and Gladys Strait of Lyle, Wash.; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Astleford, in 1958.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fuiten, Rose & Hoyt Funeral Home, Forest Grove.
