Almon was the son of Elijah Holt and Lucy Ann Holt. His father died when Almon was just two years of age and Lucy then married Samuel Loveland, then the Town Clerk of Nelson.

Almon began employment alongside his stepfather in one of the chair shops in Munsonville, then later turned to farming. In 1888 he was installed as the treasurer of the Harmony Lodge of Good Templar in Munsonville.

He remained single all his life, living with his mother until his death. His death record lists 'arthritis deformis' as the cause of death.

Almon was laid to rest in this cemetery on November 21, 1914.
