Earl "Dean" Albert, 82, of Davenport, IA, formerly of Warrensburg, IL passed away on Thursday, August 23rd at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, IA.
A Life Celebration Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at the Dawson & Wikoff West Wood St. Funeral Home, Decatur, Illinois. The family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park in Harristown, IL.
Dean was born on May 29, 1930 in Decatur, Illinois to Lawrence and Rena Rogers Albert and grew up on a farm north of Warrensburg. He graduated from Warrensburg High School. Dean was united in marriage to Virginia Lafferty on June 13,1948 in Decatur. He began his 34 year career with Caterpillar in Decatur, Illinois before being transferred to Gosselies, Belgium where he spent 2 years.
He was then transferred to the Mt. Joy plant in 1977 where he retired in August of 1988. Dean was a member of the Davenport and Decatur Caterpillar Retirees Clubs and the Plus 60 Club.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia "Jenny" of Davenport, IA; daughter, Linda (Glenn) Drowns of Calamus, IA; son, Martyn D. (Norma) Albert of Davenport,IA; grandchildren, Misty Albert of Davenport, IA, Erica (Josh) Cummings of Wilton, IA, Martyn L. (Kelli Schwichtenberg) Albert of Cedar Rapids, IA, Angela (Iaian Bock) Albert of Cedar Rapids, IA, Nick Drowns of Welton, IA and Cory (Cheryl) Drowns of Miles, IA; great granddaughters, Audrey and Isabella Cummings and Lilly Drowns; and a sister-in-law, June Lafferty of Greenwood, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Pat and a brother and his wife, Paul and Chloe Albert.
