Services for Mrs. Barr Saturday
Mahomet - Funeral services will be Saturday for Amanda N. Barr, 76, who died 5 am, Wednesday (March 1, 1967) at Burnham City Hospital, Champaign, where she had been a patient for four weeks.
Services will be at 2 pm at the Blair Funeral Home, Mahomet, with Rev. Hershel Burton of Georgetown officiating. Rev. Earl Reinhold will assist.
Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 7-9 pm Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9 pm Friday at the funeral home.
She was born June 18, 1890 in Louden township, Fayette County, daughter of Joseph A. and Mary E. Grubaugh.
She married James C. Barr on Jan. 9, 1907 at Beecher City. He died in 1954.
She had lived in the Mahomet vicinity for 37 years and was a member of the Mahomet Nazarene Church.
She is survived by one brother, Homer Grubaugh, of Decatur; one sister, Nora Watson, Decatur; seven sons, Jesse A. of Seymour, Louis S. of Monticello, J. Cecil of Moline, Raymond C. of Fithian, John R. of Farmer City, Eugene R. of Champaign, and M. Dean of Escondido, CA; six daughters, Mrs. Therman (Dorothy) Lee of Champaign, Mrs. William (Beulah) Vogelien of Cherry Valley, NV, Mrs. William (Mertie) Sarver of Monticello, Mrs. Hubert (Alta) Hefter of Gibson City; Mrs. Robert (Mary) Curtis of Urbana and Mrs. Ronald (Ina) Glick of Bremen, IN; 45 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son in 1956.
The family suggests that contributions be made to the memorial fund established for the benefit of the church missionary program.
