Nora Ellen Grubaugh was born in 1874 in Loudon, Fayette, IL to Joseph Allen Grubaugh and Mary Elizabeth Cameron. She was the 3rd child of 10 born to this couple. Nora married James W. Ashton on 13 Nov 1892 in Fayette County, IL. They had four children - Cora Ashton (b.1893), Harry Ashton (b.1894), Mary Ashton (b.1902) and Louise V. Ashton (b.1906). Nora indicates in both the 1910 and 1920 census that she is widowed, but James appears to be very much alive -living in Salem, IL in 1910, marrying Winnie in about 1915 and living in Macon, IL in 1920, 1930 and 1940. It's likely he just abandoned the family and Nora considered him dead. James actually died in 1944. Nora married Alfred Russell Watson on 1 Mar 1921. They didn't have any additional children. Alfred died in 1942 and Nora never married again. She died in 1968.
