Paul Ham Jr., 78, of 103 Culbreath Hts., Union, husband of Shirley Hendrix Ham, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at 3:50 a.m. in Wallace Thomson Hospital.
Mr. Ham was born in Union on Jan. 4, 1926, a son of the late Paul Evans Ham and Francis Ham. He was a member of the Union Church of Christ where he had served as deacon for many years. He attended the Union County Schools and was retired from Milliken and Co., having worked for 47 years, first at Excelsior Mill and then with Lockhart Power Company. For 40 plus years he served as the scoreboard operator for Union High School football and was an active member of the Union High School Booster Club. Mr. Ham was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons and a daughter-in-law, T. Scott Ham of Greenwood and Barry and Linda Ham of Union; three grandchildren, Brandi Ham, Justin Ham and Brooke Ham, all of Union; and a sister, Dorothy H. Bobo of Union. Mr. Ham was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Ham Chapman.
