Mrs. Selena Condon, mention of whose death was made in the Democrat last week, was born February 3, 1812. She was married to Alexander Condon in Ohio July 5, 1852. And to their union were born three daughters and three sons, Nora Curry of Indianapolis, Louvene Clark of Edinburg, Hattie B. Condon who died at the age of six years; John H. Condon, William A. and Oliver M. Condon, of Hamblen township.
Mrs. Condon united with the M.E. Church at the age of 14 and has lived a consistentent Christian since. Mrs. Condon was 82 years, six months and 29 days of age. She was kind and affectionate and loved by all. The church has lost a good member, the community a good neighbor. The husband a good wife and the family a good mother. She leaves to mourn her loss, not only her husband and children, but grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. She had lived in this county more than a half century. She has been busy and patient and gave up this life Sept. 2, in the early morning at the home of her son William.
The funeral was held at the Goshen church at 1:30 last Thursday afternoon and was conducted by Rev. Bailey, who delivered a very appropriate address. A large number were in attendance and there were many floral offerings. The grandsons of the deposed acted as pall bearers. The remains were laid to rest in the beautiful Goshen cemetery. Thus ended the life and ceremonies of one of the oldest ladies in Hamblen Township.
