ZACK CARTER, SR. Gary, Indiana entered this world on January 21, 1921, and separated from it on Sunday, September 3, 2006. Zack attended Lincoln High School in Forrest City, AL, and at the age of 17 was received into the Church of Christ Disciples. Zack enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a Navy Seal. After receiving an honorable discharge from the military he became a police officer and a member of the American Federation of Police, and later retired frm U.S. Steel Corp. He was also an honorable member of the 32nd degree of Wisdom Lodge No. 63 Prince Hall F. & A.M. officer and Past Master Trustee. Zack is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Ora Carter, 4 sisters, Inez Coleman, Clara Roy, Cleo Anderson, Ofleter Blair, and Louise Davis. He leaves to cherish his memories 6 children, Mary Payne, Mary Francis Kindred, Juanita Taylor, Trenell Sharon Carter, Zack (Vivica) Carter Jr. and Bernard Patterson; sister, Carol and her family, Alexander, Steven Alexander and Whitney Carter Thornton, all of Matteson, IL; adopted sister and brother, Hazel (Willie) Kimble and Elvis M. (Bobby) Coleman; 30 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 3 devoted double first cousins, Charley (Doris) Carter and John Carter, Leather Hunt; and a Special Thanks to a devoted granddaughter, Veronica, and devoted nephew, Willie Kimble; and a host of relatives, friends and other loved ones. Visitation will be Friday, September 8, 2006, from 12 noon to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services Saturday, September 9, 2006, at 11:00 a.m., all services will be held at the Guy & Allen Chapel 2959 W. 11th Ave. Professional services rendered by Guy & Allen Funeral Directors, Inc.
