Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, Abilene, with Don Greenway officiating. Burial will follow in Abilene City Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at a visitation 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Emma was born March 21, 1934 to Arthur Jefferson Reeves and Emma LaRue McCormick Reeves in Royston, Texas. She married Charles Essary. Emma was employed in communications as an operator. She enjoyed crocheting. Emma would open up her home to anyone in need. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. Emma was a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Essary, in 2008; three brothers, Wayne, Alton, and Jerry Reeves; and one sister, Jackie Nell.
Survivors include her son, Chris Essary of San Angelo; her daughter, Karan Richardson and husband, Lance, of Gorman, Texas; three sisters, Doris Evans, Betty Mauldin, and Glenda Mangrum and husband, Eddie, all of Abilene; four grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
