She married Jacob Nilssen Sand on April 4 1894 at the Washington Prairie Church, Ossian IA. Five children were born to this union: Arthur,( Dying in infancy) Nanfred, Beatrice, John and Oliver.
She died on September 16, 1957 at the home of her daughter Bertrice Watne from a heart attack with burial in the Stavanger Lutheran Church Cemetery Known as the Stone Church in rural Ossian, Iowa.
