Mrs Hanson, Long time resident of Minot, passed away on Monday, Feb 26, at Trinity hospital in Minot, where she had been a patient for about a month.
Martha Serina Hanson was born Aug 2 1878 at Ossian, Iowa a daughter of John and Johanna Grove Jermeland. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Ossian and was a member of the First Lutheran Church at Minot. She came to ND about 55 years ago, living at Rugby for a short time, then moving to Minot where she was married in 1909 to John Hanson, who preceded her in death.
She worked as housekeeper at the YWCA in Minot for a number of years and later served in the same capacity at Dakota Hall at Minot State Teachers College for 17 years. After her retirement, which was due to ill health, she continued to live in Minot until 1957 when she moved to Rugby, living there with her sister, the late Mrs Selma Blessum, until Mrs Blessum's death in October 1959. In 1960 she entered the Lutheran Home for the Aged at Minot.
Surviving Mrs Hanson are three sister, Mrs Amanda Nesvik of Ossian Iowa, Mrs Karina Knudsvig and Thea Jermeland, both of Buxton, ND; one brother, Theodore Jermeland of Ossian, IA and a large number of nieces and nephews
