Clay Co., Ky.-- Mendell Metcalf, 45, of Sextons Creek born 5 Feb. 1930 Clay Co., Ky., died Sunday 23 Nov. 1975 at the Memorial Hospital, Manchester, Clay Co., Ky. He was an employee of State Highway Department as a Mechanic. He was son of the late Lewis Henry & Ida Hunter Metcalf. He was a member of the Clarks Chapel Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife Opal Byrd Metcalf & one son Stevie Metcalf of Sextons Creek, Ky. One sister: Eithel Rowlett of Brookville, Indiana & three brothers: Tom Metcalf of Harrison, Ohio, Donald Metcalf of Sextons Creek, Ky., & Robert Metcalf of Mettamora, Indiana. The body was taken to the church at 11 A.M. Monday where he will lie in state until funeral time. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 2 P.M. at the Clark Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Jesse Byrd officiating. Burial was in the Clark (Joe) Cemetery, Sextons Creek, Ky. Britton Funeral home was in charge of the arrangements.
