Clay Co., Ky.---Donald Metcalf, age 87, of Martins Creek, Clay Co., Ky. passed away Sunday, 29 Jan. 2012 at the U.K. Hospital, Lexington, Fayette Co., Ky. He was born 18 Mar. 1924 Clay Co., Ky., & was a retired farmer.
He was proceeded in death by the mother of his children, Nova (McDaniel) Metcalf, his parents Henry & Ida (Hunter) Metcalf, & the following brothers & sister: Mendell Metcalf, Tom Metcalf, & Robert Metcalf & Ethel Rowlett & daughter-in-law Virginia (wife of Leroy).
He is survived by his wife Doris Metcalf & these children: Leroy Metcalf, Delmas Metcalf & wife Laura, Shirley Baker &husband Dan all of Clay Co., Ky., Ed Metcalf & wife Debbie of Jackson Co., Ky., Mitchell Metcalf of Clay Co., Ky.
He is also survived by these step-children: Rosetta Jones & husband Donald "Cush", Paulette Collins & husband Charlie, both of Clay Co., Ky., & Michael Lipps & wife Angela Sue of Laurel Co., Ky. He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren & 15 great grandchildren to mourn his passing.
Visitation was held Tuesday, 31 Feb. 2012 at the Brittons Funeral Home.
Funeral services for Donald Metcalf were held 1 P.M. Wednesday, 1 Feb. 2012 at the Britton Funeral Home Chapel with Harold Hays officiating. Burial will follow at the Clark (Joe) Cemetery, Sextons Creek, Clay Co., Ky. Brittons Funeral Home of Manchester, Ky. was in charge of the arrangements.
