John Tate Artz
John Tate Artz, 88, of Commiskey died at 5:35 p.m. Monday, October 4, 2004, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.
Mr. Artz was lifelong farmer and enjoyed cows, tractors, agriculture and genealogy. He was a member of Commiskey Baptist Church.
The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 11, at Coffee Creek Baptist Church in Paris Crossing with the Revs. Jay Blythe and Dan Corbin officiating. Calling is from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hospice of South Central Indiana.
Born November 5, 1915 in Commiskey, Mr. Artz was the son of George Frederick and Luella Mae Tate Artz. He married Dorothy Denton Juett on November 7, 1939, in Vernon. She survives.
Surviving with his wife are daughters, Nancy Artz Wolfensberger of Syracuse, New York, and Betty Artz Manning of Commiskey; grandchildren, Margaret Sager of Philadelphia, Penn., Joan Wolfensberger of Chicago, Ill., Paul Wolfensberger of Knoxville, Tenn., Elizabeth Manning George of Deputy, and Gregory Manning of Commiskey; and great-grandchildren, John Tate Sager, Jennifer Sager and Hadley Sager, all of Philadelphia, Mikayla George and Lily George, both of Deputy, and Morgan Manning of Commiskey.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harold Corya and Stephen Corya; and a sister, Lily Artz.
