Funeral services are at 11amCT, Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 2418 Campbellsville Road, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Steve Pescosolido, Bro. P. T. Barnum and Rev. William R. Davenport the officiating clergy. Interment in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, with full military honors by Columbia VFW Post 6097. Visitation after 2pmCT, Friday, August 17, 2012, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, and Saturday morning August 18, 2012, and after 9amCT, Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church until time for service.

Ralph B. Akin, Adair County, KY (1925-2012)

He was born on Monday, April 20, 1925 at Breeding, Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late Gilliam and Hattie Janes Akin. He died Wednesday, August 15, 2012, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 87 years, 3 months, and 25 days.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ritchie Traylor Akin, also one son Jimmie Akin; one daughter Peggy Akin; a daughter in law Thelma Jean Burton Akin on July 19, 1991; a great grandson Christopher Michael Akin on November 26, 2000, one brother Ray Akin and two sisters, Hilma Burton and Mabel Harvey.

He is survived by the following: One son: Mike Akin of Columbia, KY

One daughter: Pam Woolsey and husband Roy of Columbia, KY

Two sisters: Zela Cole of Glasgow, KY and Benita Montgomery of Russell Springs, KY

Ralph B. Akin was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was retired from Kroger in Louisville, KY. He was a Veteran of World War II.
