Juline was the third of four children born to John and Marit (Serum) Sether. She attended local public schools and attended Park Region college at Fergus Falls. She married 16 Jun 1898 Rev. Hans J. Berg. They moved to Muskegon, MI where Rev. Berg had a church.
The next year, Juline and Hans returned to Minnesota, accepting a call to serve three churches: Bethlehem, Bethany and Ostrander Lutheran churches. They lived in Ostrander the rest of their lives.
In 1911 the couple adopted Ethel (who married Elvin S. Tollefson) and raised her as their daughter. Hans died in 1933. In attendance at Juline's funeral in 1946 were many pastor-friends and many members of all three churches, one of the largest groups in attendance at any service ever held in Ostrander to that time.
